What is a Checkoff?

Agriculture Research & Promotion programs, authorized by Congress for national programs and by state legislation for state programs, are requested, funded, and driven by industry.

The programs pool resources to develop new markets, strengthen existing markets, and conduct important research and promotion activities.

National agriculture programs are administered by the USDA.  Major programs exist for Beef, Cotton, Dairy, Milk, Pork, and Soybeans.  More information about these checkoff programs and others can be found HERE.

State checkoff programs are usually administered by state Departments of Agriculture.
